‘Wood Burning Stove Ban’ The Truth!

Stove owners and those thinking of buying a new stove can be assured that the government is not seeking to ban wood burning stoves. Instead it wants to ensure that consumers use the cleanest stoves and the cleanest fuel to minimise pollution.

The Clean Air Strategy recognises that all wood burning stoves are not the same and that reductions in particulate emissions, (PM), can be achieved through the correct installation of Ecodesign Ready stoves and burning ‘Ready to Burn’ logs that have a moisture content below 20%. The government has also recognised that regular maintenance and the way in which the stove owner operates their stove has a significant part to play in the reduction of emissions. Auldton Stoves has always taken their role as an SIA Retail Member very seriously when educating consumers on how to burn the right fuel in the right appliance, in order to reduce their emission impact.

Eco-design is the European-wide programme to lower emissions. It is due to come into force for stoves in the UK in 2022. Eco-design requirements are already being met with selected stoves. Auldton Stoves pride ourselves in being ahead of the game, displaying and supplying market leading brands from both the UK and Europe. The PM emissions limit for Eco-design is 55% lower than for DEFRA exempt stoves.

At Auldton Stoves we are proud HETAS Retailers & Installers, SIA Retailers and Woodsure “Ready To Burn” Retailers. We have always educated our customers to burn clean, ready to burn fuel being the first in Scotland to supply Kiln Dried Firewood.

Neil Parish MP, Chair of the Select Committee Environment Food & Rural Affairs, said:
“What the SIA is doing fits in with the world we have; we have problems in our inner cities with very high levels of NOx and particulates. Anything we can do to reduce that from open fires and others, through SIA Ecodesign Ready stoves has got to be an absolute benefit.”

Lets make Scotland greener than ever, recomending you stop using dirty open fires and old wood burning stoves. Jump into a greener future by replacing these with a beautiful 2022 Clean Efficient Appliance. Further more Auldton Stoves have pledged to plant a British Hardwood Tree on our Farm for every stove sold this year. PLANTING OUR GREENER FUTURE HAS ALREADY BEGAN!
