According to legend, the square shape of this Sicilian-inspired pizza comes from the steel pans borrowed from a Detroit automotive factory in the 1940s. This custom, ready-to-use dough mix was formulated in-house by Ooni’s expert groceries team, especially for use with Ooni ovens.

A traditional Detroit-style pizza is quite untraditional when it comes to pizza, as the toppings are layered below the sauce. Pepperoni is often the first topping to touch the pizza base, but you can layer up your favorite high-quality toppings however you like. Next, add a generous layer of shredded mozzarella or Monterey Jack and top it all off with our classic pizza sauce.
