With increasing popularity of our RB73 Outdoor Fires, we have decided to give you some top tips for the summer nights ahead. This is the perfect blog for those who have just purchased or are thinking of a new outdoor fire. It is important that you look after your fireplace in order to make sure that it is safe and clean for many years to come.
Step 1:
First you need to make sure that the RB73 is level and away from combustible material. Just like internal Stoves the RB73 requires space around it to ensure that you have a safe experience.
Step 2:
This is one of the most important steps when dealing with any outdoor or indoor fire. You need to make sure that your firewood has a moisture content below 20% in order to have a clean and efficient burn. If you fail this then you are guaranteed to have black glass and problems in the future. Always make sure that your firewood supplier is Government Approved by Woodsure and part of the ‘Ready To Burn Scheme’. This will give you confidence that you are using the correct fuel for your appliance. Auldton Stoves has a large selection of approved firewood. Click Here
Step 3:
Step three is simple… make sure that the bed of the firebox and glass sides are clean ready for its next burn. It is also important to make sure that the controls are open for maximum air flow. Most of the RB73 Range have a damper control located on the first meter of flue pipe.
Step 4:
Time to set the fire. Start with small/medium sized logs on the base of the firebox. Make sure you create a pile with plenty of air gaps so air can circulate easily. Finish with some light kindling in a similar style directly on top of the logs. Place a Natural Wax Firelighter in the middle and light it up! Step 5:
After you have lit your firelighter shut the door. A good tip is to keep the door slightly ajar for the first 5 minutes insuring plenty of airflow. Only once the fire is fully established do you fully close the door and control the fire down by adjusting the damper.
Final Step:
Sit back, relax and enjoy the evening with a drink of your choice! Watch the video below for demonstration.
